FARGO -  MOORHEAD CAMERA CLUB PHOTO COMPETITION  RULES AND PROCEDURES:

The first meeting of the month (Sept. through May) shall consist of a salon competition in Digital, Digital Modified, Color Prints, and Black & White Prints.  All members are eligible to submit entries and are urged to participate. The following rules are intended to enhance competition by providing equal opportunity for all members. The purpose of the Fargo Moorhead Camera Club is to provide an organization that is open to all who desire to further their skill, knowledge and enjoyment of photography.

Each salon will be judged by a competent judge who may or may not be a photographer, but who has expertise in the visual arts. Judges are usually professional photographers or teachers from the community. We are deeply indebted to them for their generous contributions of time and talent. Judges are asked to critique each entry and provide helpful suggestions on ways that the photograph might be improved. Members are reminded that judging is to a considerable degree subjective and critique is designed to be instructive. The main purpose of competition is to improve our skills and we should accept the judge’s comments in an educational light.

Salon entries must be turned in by the deadlines specified by the contest chairperson so ample time is allowed for logging in entries and for the judge to study each entry carefully. This date is generally the Wednesday of the week prior to the salon. A drop off point will be announced by the contest chairperson. Currently, we are using  101 10th St. N. Ste 120, Fargo, as a drop off point. Just inside the door you will see the Camera Club boxes, on your right, for depositing your print and slides. Remember, the Digital entries must be submitted electronically. The Salon chairperson had the right to reject any entry for any reason deemed to be in the best interest of the club.

Winning entries, in any salon, are not eligible to be entered in any future club salon but are eligible entries for N4C competition. All entries will be handled with care but the club will not be responsible for accidental damage. Proper labeling of entries, spotting and cleanliness of slides are the responsibility of the member submitting the entry.

The judge will select winning entries in each category. There will be a first place, second place, third place and honorable mention winners in each category.
